We wanted to take some time to introduce our team and today we are going to start with our Founder, Leader & Creative Lead: Abigail Miller
Who you are: Hi guys! I am Abigail! (My friends call me Abi)
Where you’re from: I have been a Baldwin County, AL transplant since 2014 and before that I grew up in South Florida (though I have lived in about 12 Florida towns all over the state!)
“I believe strongly in supporting and pouring into your community…“
Core values: I have two core values. The first is “To Love + Be Loved” (which is tattooed on my arm) and for me that means that at my core, my purpose in life is to love others [both in a Christian sense and just a basic human sense] and to allow myself to be loved by others and God. The plus sign is in the middle because it symbolizes the vertical relationship I believe in as well as the horizonal relationships I cultivate. (see what I did there?) My second core value goes hand in hand but is a little less emotionally and spiritually driven and that is that I believe strongly in supporting and pouring into your community. I started this business after facing some burn out and clash of values at a previous job and I realized that the largest source of that frustration and burn out was because I wasn’t using my skills for my own community. My community is made up mostly of entrepreneurs, small business owners, creative makers & thinkers and those, who like me, have fought hard to build a life around the passions a people they love. I want to serve those people because, well honestly, I don’t see many local companies that are. For me, this is far less about income and far more about seeing my friends and comrades succeed and doing whatever I can along the way to help them achieve their own versions of success.
Background: Well, that’s something I have fun sharing but the story tends to be long so I will give you guys a brief synopsis. I got my foot in the small business creative world by starting my own photography business when I graduated from High School. I did EVERYTHING wrong during that time. I had no clue what I was doing but I kept going. I eventually found myself at a place where I was a full-time wedding photographer, traveling the world to do what I loved & teaching other photographers on the way. I also began to partner with The Rising Tide Society as a founding leader for Tuesdays Together. This is where my love for #communityovercompetition began. In college, I had a job as a marketing and admissions associate for the school and that was where I learned several of my skills but attained my Bachelors degree in Missions (theology). In 2018 I needed to get out of my four walls and work with other adult humans (I had two toddlers, 3 and under at the time!) and I took a job working for CostaPrint as the Marketing & Web Design manager. It was then that all of my experience with management, marketing & design came back to me. A couple of years passed and I found myself going through a divorce and navigating life as a fully single mom and I took a job offer at a local Marketing Agency which was going to allow me some financial freedom during such a scary and stressful time. This ended up being the pivotal moment for me where my mental health declined and I realized that I had not fought to get out of a toxic marriage just to turn around and create a toxic career. I made the gut wrenching decision to walk away from that job trusting that making the best choice for my mental health would result in a better financial opportunity as well as bring me some peace. It was a risk worth taking & man am I so glad that I did!
Fast forward and I am now happily remarried to the best human on the planet, my kids are thriving and my choice to walk away from a toxic work situation led me to have this little business where I get to pour into others who are walking some of the same paths that I did.
Why you love what you do: Well, I love marketing & design because I like to have control and be a little nerdy while I am also creating something beautiful that someone somewhere will be really really proud of. I love to make a difference and an impact on people’s lives, and I love to help. (I am a 2w1 on the enneagram if that helps!)
